What is the correct way to add a binary file?

From: Philip <spam.me.all.you.want.123_at_gmail.com>

Whenever I try to add a binary file, I get the message
Error "<filename> has binary mime type property"

Is this really an error? If so, what should I do differently?

Or is this really a warning? In which case, is there any way to avoid
the warning for files which I know are indeed binary files?

What confuses me is that if I go ahead and commit anyway, everything
seems to go fine. And I can add the files from the command line via
"svn add" without getting this message.

(I've read the docs and searched this newsgroup, but I don't see the
answer. Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious.)

Thanks,
   Philip.
