Create the registry key (DWORD)
HKCU\Software\TortoiseSVN\CacheTrayIcon
and set its value to 1.

Next time the cache starts, it will put an icon in the system tray. A
right-click on that icon will show you a context menu where you can quit
the cache process. But of course, it will restart almost immediately
again as soon as the explorer asks for overlay information.
