Request for Linux version

I can't imagine this is the first request. A quick search does not
reveal that it has been comprehensively excluded.

I use tortoise on windows. It is a fine piece of software, as most
people here must be aware.

I would love to see a version for Linux/X windows. I would personally
be willing to donate a monthly amount (~£5) to such a project, perhaps
others would too, without a guarantee of its completion. How do the
developers feel about such an endeavour?
