Correct, and there are plenty of warnings about this around about the
various websites.

I've been using nightly builds for some months now and have no problem
with our 1.3.1 server. Apparently you need an upgrade to 1.5 fully
utilise merge tracking and sparse working copy features (but they do
kind of work without it).
The trouble with upgrading your server is of course it (potentially)
affects the other people you work with so I have personally chosen to
wait for the official release.
