TortoiseSVN not responding

Hello,
I installed TortoiseSVN on my WinXP machine last Thursday. (I can't check
the exact version, since the machine has since stopped booting.)

It ran just fine all day Thursday, and I enjoyed getting familiar with it
by creating and playing with a local repository on my c:/ drive. One thing
I didn't do was restart immediately after the install, but that didn't seem
to bother it. Everything worked as expected. I have no other SVN clients
on my system.

Today, I went to use TortoiseSVN, and the menu items were present, but
nothing would happen when I selected them. I tried Create Repository
Here..., Update, then just Help and About... There was no error message at
any time, and no evidence that anything happened in response to the command.

So, any idea why that might happen?

I decided to uninstall Tortoise, with a plan to reinstall later. The
uninstall seemed to go fine, and it asked me to re-start, which I did. On
re-start, my machine would not boot. I tried a few basic things but could
not get it to boot at all. Took it in to my local computer guy, who also
could not get it to boot. Says Windows needs to be re-installed.

I do not know if the Windows problems were related to my Tortoise problems,
and if so, what the cause-effect relationship might be. Any insights would
be appreciated.

I know many people use and love this software, but I am a bit nervous about
trying it again based on what has just happened.

Thanks for your help.

Heidi
