Please define "other applications"

From the release notes of our spellchecker modules:

"These are some pre-packaged spellchecker modules for TortoiseSVN. The
spellcheckers are independent from the TortoiseSVN version and will be
updated at irregular intervals whenever we notice that a dictionary has been
updated.

The dictionaries were downloaded from
http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/spell_dic.html"

Check one of the "other applications" that use the same spellchecker rules
for their behaviour. If they behave the same, you should ask on the open
office list.

Cheers
