Update to revision

I have just been playing with 'Update To Revision', managed to crash TSVN.
1) Select a file / Update To Revision/ select prev rev / OK / Now click Show Log
2) Bang
I'm a little unsure of how Update to Revision is meant to work, after doing it the file looks (from the icon) unchanged, and commit fails to commit it, and a subsequent Update restores the current version.
I did the UTR then copied the file out then Update then copied back in, is this the 'best' way?
