I tried to reproduce this, but whatever I tried, I always got additional
text after an error which had "(details follow):" in it. The one thing I
haven't tested it an "Authorization failed" error from an svnserve on
Linux. I've tried it with my Apache server, but the error message was
always complete.
Can you maybe give me access to your repository (not really access - I
need the "Authorization failed" error) so I can test against your setup?
