un-version controlling files/projects

From: taka torimoto <ttorimoto_at_gmail.com>

Once I have a tree full of files under version control with
Subversion/TortoiseSVN, how do I "un-version control" it (and lose all of its
overlay icons of course)?

In other words, how do I remove projects/files from SVN repository/control,
without losing the working files in my local directory?
