I'm wondering if this might also be contributing to my problem (but I am
at 1.3.2 5840)...
But in particular I am very interested in why you ask about a working
copy in C:\...
We are going to have to have this... is there a problem?

Stefan fixed a problem back at revision 5826.
Release 1.3.2 was at rev 5840 so if your back at 1.3.1 then I would
suggest an upgrade or even the current nightly which I have been using
trouble free today.
The nightly is available from :-
http://mapcar.org/tsvn-snapshots/latest/
Other wise, there is still something lurking.
Do you have a WC in the C:\ at all?
