Issue: Saving of Tortoise SVN Settings

Hi,

I was having an issue saving settings in the Tortoise SVN Settings screen. No settings would save, even after rebooting, and installing the latest version. Fortunately I found your FAQ page about where the settings are kept in the registry (http://tortoisesvn.sourceforge.net/node/22 - helpful). I had a look at the permissions on the registry key, and for some reason the user account that I’d installed with didn’t have permission to access the key. I granted myself permission to the key (HKCU\Software\TortoiseSVN) and it worked (ie. settings were able to be saved).

The issue is that there was no warning/error message, or Event Log entry indicating what the problem was. It would be good if, when a setting is not able to be saved, the user is presented with a (somewhat) informative message indicating why the settings couldn’t be saved.

I don’t believe this is an issue that many people would have, but I was able to find no information in my searches on this issue, and as a developer, I don’t believe that it’d be hard to fix.

Thanks for listening (reading?).

Christopher.
