Cannot connect to svnserve repos using ssh

Hi,

I have checked all the FAQs and documentation and have run out of ideas on this one.

We're attempting to setup a multi-site project to use SVN rather than our default CM choice (ClearCase).
Repository is up and running, using svnserve, working fine for almost everyone from several sites. Svnserve has been
used successfully on another project already, so all we were doing was adding a new repository for a new project.

For one user (me), we simply do not succeed to connect to the repository at all from an XP client machine.

I have followed the detailed instructions for setting up SSH, and I can SSH to the SVN server machine fine using putty,
and I have saved a session with the correct connection details so it shows up in pageant (and I can connect from there
too).

When I attempt an SVN checkout with default TSVN settings (i.e. not specifying an SSH application) I get "cannot write
to stderr", a somewhat unhelpful error.

I can run plink from the command line, giving it the saved session as an argument, and it connects just fine to the
server. Svnserve is also on the path of the logged in session.

If I select plink as the SSH application in TSVN, attempting a checkout gives me two empty shell windows one after the
other, and an "Error: connection closed unexpectedly" message.

If I select putty as the SSH application in TSVN (not sure if this is a valid thing to do) I get a message about
"invalid port", which is odd, but maybe this is because it is not valid to select putty as the SSH app for TSVN. Putty
GUI run by hand will of course connect just fine to the server.

I have compared settings with another XP machine we setup, the settings are of course identical, and on the second XP
machine all works fine.

Is there any way I can see additional error output from TSVN, to help figure out what is wrong?
We have spent many hours on this already, installing and uninstalling and generally poking about, and it is eluding us
completely. Pretty soon our poking about window will close and we will have to go with a CM system which we can make
work ... Which would be a great pity as the opportunity for me to try out SVN on a real project will therefore have
closed for another year.

Any help gratefully accepted.

Thanks
Liam
