RE: Subversion as a backup tool

Hi,

There is someone on the Subversion mailing lists who has created a
backup tool that uses the Subversion filesystem. If you search the
archives of the Subversion mailing list you should be able to find it.
The first version of this tool was released just a couple of months ago,
if I remember correctly.

Greetz,

Leon

Does anybody have experience using subversion as a complete
backup tool, for backing up a whole machine, or at least a whole drive?

The branching and merging features are of no value (for this
application), and tagging is of modest value, but the diff'ing and
economy of transfer features are great, and the ability to get the
latest version of _any_ file from HEAD is wonderful, as is the
no-easy-deletions policy.

I haven't tried this, yet, and suspect there may be unseen
pitfalls, so consequently I am interested in the experiences of anybody
who has tried this.

        Thanks in advance
        David Keeney
