Main installation, with options to download/install translations

Dear all,

(First posting, so I hope I've chosen the appropriate list!)

I miss the possibility to download/install translations during the main
installation (as opposed to download a separate file and run a separate
installation). I'm willing to have a look at it (and if I can get it to
work, propose a patch). To spare me some work I'd appreciate some feedback
before starting:

1. Is there a reason why it's not there? (If you say "yes, we will not have
that option because XXX", then there's little reason to look at it; if you
say "nobody has had the time", then I'll dig in).

2. Have someone tried already and given up for some specific reason
(technical or otherwise)?

3. Any opinions on how to implement it? I'm thinking the installer should
have a list of languages and a download URL for each, and when the user
selects one (or more) they are downloaded on demand. That way we won't
increase the main installer size with unnecessary languages.

Kind regards,

Daniel Sahlberg

(PS: My reason for interest is that I've started to update the Swedish
translation but realized that even I don't bother to download the
translation manually when installing on new systems).
