you may have a point - I like non-program specific and simple ways of doing things as well.

Let me try if and how ShellExecuteEx() - which launches the associated registered program works. I don't like some of that security-related code that I had to put in for the COM based Visual Studio-specific solution.

What I do like about the present solution, is the performance -- loading many > 20 files in no time at all. In the latest incarnation of the code, after loading the files Visual Studio now comes to the foreground - a detail, but this means one click less and a more fluent workflow. I will do experimentation and post the findings (performance, pro/cons etc), so we can then discuss further.

Julien, est-ce que tu est français? J'ai passé un bon petit bout de temps au Québec et mon français reste mieux que passable :-)
