You can configure the colors in the settings dialog.
And if you can come up with better default colors, post a screenshot
with your colors and then we can decide whether to make that the default
or not.

Yes, but use the registry value Software\\TortoiseSVN\\NumDiffWarning as
the 'limit' of number of files: that value is used in the status list
control to show a warning if more than that specified number of files
are selected for a diff.
