Missing something just getting started...

Hi all,

What I want to do is set up a repository on a network share for already-existing code. I want to be able to check out the code to a local folder so I can fiddle with it like when I go home, and then in the morning when I get back to work, I can check it back in.

So I have tortoisesvn installed. On the network share I rightclicked and Created Repository. This seemed to work - I have conf, db, and all the other folders created. I then opened up repo browser, and added project\branches , project\tags, project\trunk to the repository.

This seemed to work. But when I went to the repository directory in windows explorer, there is nothing there. Are my expectations in error? Repo-browser still shows the project structure, but there's no place in windows explorer to drop my code files.

Just for fun I went back into repo-explorer and added a single file under project\trunk (my sln file). This appeared to work (in repo-explorer). But there's no sln file showing in windows explorer.

I then tried simply copying the folder with all my code into the repository in windows explorer (top level, since no project\trunk structure shows in windows explorer), and then tried to commit that new folder. The option wasn't offered to me on right clicking the code folder.

Obviously I'm missing something really really basic about how this all works.

Thanks for any tips,

-sff
