I'm not really fond of not to know about new global settings. Even if
it's only per user.

It is not my intention to press you on anything. You have alreay done a
lot for this and I really really do appreciate that.

If I may ask a possibly stupid additional question (apologies for being
greedy again):

Would it make sense to have a common overlay settings tool that could be
used by all Tortoises (in the longer run)?

I mean, it is just a GUI tool that is missing here... Now it seems all
Tortoises have to provide it.
