In the check for modifications dialog, "text status" for the directory
is "deleted", and "property status" is blank (No value). The property
status is empty for the root folder I deleted, as well as any
sub-files and sub-directories that were in it.

I'm using the official icon pack named "Straight". According to the
preview window, yes it does have a delete overlay.

No overlay shows up. It has absolutely no overlay, it looks like just
a regular folder icon.
