Issue with RepoBrowser in 1.5

Hi,

I notice that sometimes when I type an invalid URL in the repo browser, it
usually takes 10-15 or maybe more minutes before it eventually fails. During
this waiting time, I see the following status message in the main window:

"Please wait while the repository browser is initializing..."

Pressing the close [X] button does nothing. To close the dialog I have to
kill it in task manager. Why can't I cancel the operation? This seems broken
and there should be a way to cancel the operation.
