Really? That's bad. I've found some hints and tried setting the RTL flag, but that mirrored the entire page. (including images), so I gave up and hoped that you would find out something more. Isn't there any arab site that deals with generating rtl output from docbook using fop? I would guess that http://arabeyes.org/ is a good starting place.

I found the following hints:
- - http://www.sagehill.net/docbookxsl/Localizations.html (I set fop writing mode to 'rl-tb' but ended with totally mirrored pages. Maybe 'rl-tb' + some clever style sheet tricks will help)
- - http://osdir.com/ml/misc.persiancomputing/2005-07/msg00010.html (just a discussion that it "should" work)
- - http://www.nabble.com/FOP-Bug---42307-td18013801.html (the reply at the end of the message makes me fear that fop really cannot handle rtl languages properly :( )

I don't know if there exists a converter from docbook to open offixe xml, but that could be worth a try.

Cheers
