shifting is exactly what i am currently trying, but it's an roundabout
solution,

while we are on this subject what are your thoughts on mirroring for
rtl languages, is it supported by tortoise or not?
if not will it be, i beleive mirroring is one way to tackle this
problem with rtl languages.
