Re: Translators wanted!!!!!

Hi Lübbe

Originally developed for Ubuntu, Launchpad is indeed *NIX oriented ;).
However, seeing that TSVN is a "layer" for SVN, which seems more
open-source/*NIX oriented than not, I figure TSVN wouldn't be that much
"off".

The system does indeed offer suggestions cross-project, so if another
project involving SVN has been translated, chances are there will be
some matching strings.

Regarding integration (again, haven't read into it, just brainstorming
here), the previously mentioned server-side hook could do the uploading
of the .pot to Launchpad, and the nightly build scripts (whereever they
are executed?) could download exported .po files from Launchpad (either
just for the builds, or also commit them back into the TSVN SVN
repository). Obviously, a given language should not be translated BOTH
via .po's and Launchpad, unless someone fancy a lot of manual merges.
Theoretically, that would make the Launchpad integration transparent.

I don't know if Launchpad offers the .pot/.po's through SVN
repositories, if so, maybe you can integrate it even easier. Maybe they
even offer to checkout repositories and update/commit automatically from
their end, so you won't even have to do anything other than set them up
an account.

True about poedit and spellcheckers. I'm using the builtin spellchecker
in FireFox when doing Launchpad translations.
