We'll just have to disagree ;-) Personally I prefer something like
this which is smaller and thinner - more like the line wrap marker
used in the scintilla control. But that's just my opinion.
Distinguishing chars and symbols is already a problem with the tab and
space markers. That's why I suggested using a different colour. I'll
go file that issue now while I remember.
