Suggestion for version 1.5

Hi,

This issue occurs in several other locations, but my specific example is in
regards to "Check for Modifications" dialog. When the Check for
Modifications dialog is up and it is saying "Please wait...", pressing
cancel results in a small dialog that appears that says "User canceled". I
find these small popup dialogs to be annoying. Why not just set the status
of "Please wait..." to "User canceled" (Maybe in larger or colored text to
make it more apparent)? Is there a specific need for the popup dialog? It
would be much cleaner if it were removed and I wouldn't have to click "OK"
on some arbitrary dialog. Note that I think the Update dialog does this too
(But it has been a while since I've checked).
