The oldest post I can see is from 2004-11-04

Of course I can not verify if it dropped some posts in between. AFAIK Gmane
respects the X-No-Archive attribute on emails and deletes them after a few days.

    Just throwing in the options :) Google Groups is fine but I find Gmane
better to navigate.
