The big problem is that users *will* get confused. I only found the site
because I wondered why a user complained about an issue with
"TortoiseSVN on Linux" here on the list yesterday - that's when I
googled around and found the site.
Considering that this project is brand new and we already had one user
completely confused about where to complain I think this is a big issue.
Why can't people just use new names for their projects? (in case you
ask: I wanted to change the name of TortoiseSVN when I joined the
project for exactly that reason, but it was then decided to keep the
name TortoiseSVN - with permission of the TortoiseCVS guys).
What I also think is a little offensive: they didn't even ask if they
could use such a similar name for their project. We had people here
asking if they could use the name "Tortoise" for their project but a
different version control system! And those were not such similar names
as this one is.
I've sent the guy a mail - maybe you guys should too. I just hope he's
reasonable and will change the name.
