Hi,
We're slowly approaching the date where we can release version 1.5
(proposed date for SVN to create the 1.5. release branch is october
12). Which means now is the time to start working on all the icons and
bitmaps we use in TSVN. Up until now, many new icons/bitmaps we
introduced due to new features have been simply copied from other ones
and therefore don't even match the function they're assigned to, or I
created some ugly ones just so I could test the feature. Usually, we
can rely on Lübbe to create some nice looking icons for us. But he's
busy with other things (including the TSVN translations) and can't do
all the work by himself.
What I'm trying to say is:
we need artists here who are willing to help us out with improving the
icons and bitmaps.
An (incomplete) list of icons/bitmaps that need work:
* background icons
See issue #342: http://issues.tortoisesvn.net/index.php?do=details&task_id=342
* all overlay icons: add icon size 256x256 for Vista
* icons for eol-indication in TortoiseMerge
And for those who like a challenge:
There are also some animations which could use some work. Those
animations are used in the 'explorer style' progress dialogs (like the
ones you see when you copy a lot of files in explorer, the animated
papers flying from left to right).
The one I did myself:
http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/svn/tortoisesvn/trunk/src/Resources/download.avi
(username: guest, leave password empty)
is now used everywhere TSVN has to download/fetch some data from the
repository. As you can clearly see: there is room for improvement :)
And of course there are other situations where we use that dialog but
either just show some default animation we extracted from Windows or
show no animation at all:
* cleanup
* move/copy (we use the default explorer animation there)
* export
* blame
Anyone with better graphic skills than me (that should be all of you)
please help us out here.
Stefan
