I can reproduce this. It would indeed be a good idea if the URL in the
checkout Dialog would be pre-filled with the current URL of the repository
browser and not with the URL that was used when the repository browser was
invoked.

The target folder has to be filled with something. I would suggest to use
the file system URL from which the repository browser was invoked as the
base instead of the temp folder location.
