We have access controls to the SVN servers, and whilst devs can login to
the remote servers to do the necessary grunt work, if SVN/Tortoise
supported remote creation we could have *tighter* controls such that
repositories could be created without a dev needing to have access to the
server.
Similar to your Windows batch file, using a shell script to create
repositories is the obvious way to do things, and the motd or shell login
script can always be setup to remind a user of what to do if they are
wanting to create a repository when they login. So there are ways to
manage the issue.
None the less, being able to right click on a folder to select an option
to create even a remote repository from that folder is highly appealing,
would be useful, would save time, and would be possible.
