My mail was prompted by a 1.2.4 user not even seeing the red because
auto-scrolling wasn't implemented then. 1.4 (or maybe since 1.3) is way
better because it forcibly auto-scrolls to the bottom on error (plus the
big honking error sound). But in the case of, say, a colour-blind user
with speakers turned off (hey, new acronym, CBUSTO!), the suggested
change would remove any ambiguity, and for regular users remove a
smaller one.

(I can see Stefan's face now: "What!? The UI is now designed around
CBUSTOs?")
