RE: TortoiseSVN + MS Office open dialog hangs

Are you sure you don't have any other third party explore plugins installed
that might conflict with TortoiseSVN? If it was TortoiseSVN alone, thousands
of people using MS Office would be shouting at us.

What happens if you enable "TortoiseSVN->Settings->Overlays->Show overlays
only in explorer"? This tells TortoiseSVN *not* to show overlays in "File
open/save" dialogs.
