Applying Sven's Patch destroys Tortoise_de.po

Hi Folks,

Running TortoiseSVN RC1. When I apply Sven Brüggemanns patch to
Tortoise_de.po, TortoiseMerge shows broken UTF-8 characters on the right
hand side. After saving the file, all lines containing German Umlauts are
missing from the .po file. Whose fault is this?
