It was removed because it wasn't "a standard way to use the combobox control".

You only have to do one more click. So what's the big deal?
And if you need that feature more than once a day, I have to say that
then you're doing something wrong anyway. Either you have too much
failed commits, or you're 'writing' useless log messages.
