This should be fixed in the latest nightly, and be part of next release (due
today)!
I do not see how it could be l10n specific. It is a MS Word problem...

Yes there is.

Well, as it turned out it was easier to do this in Jscript, so both the diff
and the merge scripts has been ported and (hopefully) fixed. Try them!
