This problem has come up a couple of times recently. Maybe we need a
more obvious FAQ entry which points to the existing one. Problem is
there are several manifestations.

The unhelpful error message comes from the Subversion libraries, not
TSVN. It is a frequent complaint, so if you would like to help fix it in
Subversion, contact their dev list. They will be able to guide you as to
where to start. I was going to have a look at it, but I don't have any
spare time at the moment, and I am not that familiar with SVN internals
either.
