Attempting commit with no changes is what causes the problem for me most often.
I think I've seen it (more rarely) from log viewing, but that's not so easy to
replicate.

Sorry about the 'log view' uncertainty. When you get regular error messages,
it's just human nature to start ignoring them.

But the commit error is quite reliable.
