"unknown hostname" means that Subversion wasn't able to resolve the
hostname, i.e. it's a DNS problem.
And that again means that your network setup is wrong (or you're having
other DNS problems).

* Did an update in 1.1.7.3240 and was advised that I'm up to date.
Upgraded to 1.2.0.x, and rebooted. Did update and get error message.
Uninstalled 1.2.0.x and rebooted.
Installed 1.1.7.3240 and rebooted. Did update and advised that I'm up to
date.
I find it hard to believe that my DNS server only seems to be down when I
have 1.2.0.x installed.
I've also tested with the VPN linked to the host name, so the host name must
have been getting resolved.
Is there anything else I can/should check?
