Thank you for you help Simon, and well done all those who are involved
in the great project.

A couple of observations as a TSVN & version control newbie:

The manual says "...it doesn't really matter, if you forget to delete
the file with TortoiseSVN as you are supposed to do."

If it 'doesn't really matter' why is one 'supposed' to do it via TSVN?
or more to point - what are the negative consequence of doing this? i.e.
deleting files via non-SVN methods.

I can see that rename/move via non-SVN method would cause loss of
history but am wondering about the delete.

Next as SVN is OK with files being deleted behind it's back could this
be extended to directories as well?

If not is it possible to include some warning or error message on the
next commit etc to the effect of "You idiot newbie! It looks like you've
fiddled with the folders. You're not supposed to delete directories
behind my back. You must now RTFM 10 times, then...a, ,b ,c.. to make
the repo usable again."

I found myself running around in circles when I'd done this. The error
"..blah bhal missing file ..." then run cleanup, cleanup failed, did not
enable me to get back to the beginning or even find out what I'd done
wrong. Me: "Hey it work OK when I deleted the files from explorer, what
  have I done wrong?"

I think if SVN could deal with directories being deleted that would add
another level of functionality. It could then be used for data that is
changed by other app's like the email client, which does have large text
files which change daily (mailboxes).

Anyhow keep up the good work and thanks for your time.

Cheers,

Rennie
