That wouldn't help here. The cache already sends notifications *only* if
the status has changed. No notifications if nothing has changed.
If we would stop the notifications if it finds that the status has
changed, then we could as well get rid of the overlays completely,
because then they never would be accurate!

But: if you don't want notifications sent by the cache delayed, then you
can disable the recursive scanning in the settings dialog.
