Right, of course, that makes sense.
Unfortunately, that's how Explorer works.
Anybody tried this on a beta of the new Windows?

There's no reason to *provoke* it to happen though.
So if there are any places where a forced refresh could be spared, it
definitely should be.

And (forgive me Steve) another point: IF enough people are annoyed by
the refreshing, an option to control automatic refreshes would be very
nice. It could read:
 A) scan in background, refresh automatically
 B) scan on access
 C) scan in background, refresh manually

A is the current situation. B is the user friendly (although
technically not 100% correct) way of saying "do not force explorer to
refresh; whenever status for an item is needed to paint an overlay,
wait until the cache has pristine data available". C is like A except
that no forced refreshes takes place and you have to use F5 if you
think you're seeing a wrong picture.
