In that case, I think you're pushing the release over the counter far too fast.

Ah, no, do what the Subversion devs do, just up it to a ftp and post
an announcement on the mailing list.

Are you worried that people are going to download Subversion 1.2.0 and
then wonder where the corresponding TSVN is? How about a notice on
the web site saying that there is release candidates in the nightly
directory (or add a directory for RC's), and that it will be released
as soon as it's deemed good enough (or so)?

June 1st seems way too close for comfort, if you ask me.
Subversion has a four week soak period where no new features are
allowed, how about following that lead? Or just 2 weeks?

I still think a RC should be announced, to tell people that they have
a chance to test the binary that will become the final.
