Couldn't you filter the unifed diff output to get the filenames and
revisions of only the files that had changed?
Wouldn't that save you from checking out every file in the folder?

Or am I missing the point of the Feature Request?

And what do you think that function does? It checks out the file twice
in both selected revisions.
Now do that for a folder with 1000 files...
