No, the log message is saved in the log message history. Just use the
dropdown and choose it. But yes, you have to reselect the files...

There was a discussion about this behavior a few months ago, but IIRC
this behavior was found the best without going in too deep into
usability. Imagine, if the selection was kept, what to do, if you commit
from another directory? Still store it or forget about it? So it was
decided that this is not stored.
