Wow - I just spent half an hour looking through the changelog to find
that change. I couldn't find it. Then I found that this change wasn't in
version 1.1.3 but in version 0.10.0!!!

Actually, I wasn't making fun of people with visual handicap. But
there's no visual handicap for which a _red_ background would help. So
if really someone uses a red background, I think I can honestly say that
such a person is a little crazy.
(the reason for that comment: some colors are hardcoded to red (e.g. the
color in the progress dialog for conflicted items).

I don't know why you 'see' black on black. The messagebox functions now
don't set the text foreground color anymore but use the default
foreground color of the dialog device context. So you should take a look
at your windows color settings - I think there's a color left black
which (since you changed the background to black) should now be a
brighter color like white.
