If we are talking about AnkhSVN, then I do not agree it would be a good
base. AnkhSVN is not an SCC provider. SCC is a specific API for
integrating with IDE's on Windows. AnkhSVN is using a new API Microsoft
invented with Visual InterDev and then moved into VS .NET. There are no
other tools that it works with. It is a fine way to integrate with VS
.NET, but since it doesn't work with anything else, I do not agree it is a
good base to build on. Most IDE's on Windows, including VS .NET, support
the SCC API to some degree.
