My suggestion (I'm going here the 'way of the least resistance' which
means the least work for me ;) )

Suggestion 1:
Only show the "nothing to do" dialog if no unversioned files are there,
i.e. if even enabling the checkbox wouldn't show anything.
If unversioned files are available, just enable the checkbox no matter
the last setting.

Suggestion 2:
Always show the "nothing to do". If no unversioned files can be shown,
then the dialog is the same as now. If however unversioned files could
be shown, add a line "Do you want to see the unversioned files?" to the
dialog and instead of just "OK" button have "Yes", "No" buttons there.

Personally, I'd like number 2 better...
