And simply deactivate the commit button.

I see two advantages:
1. You could press F5 to refresh the list
2. show unversioned files checkbox is accessible

You are also one click ahead to close the dialog. But you should create
a bubble box saying that it's nothing to do, otherwise someone is
waiting until some items appear.
