I guess you weren't aware that that's a feature, not a bug :-)

You can enable those icons by fiddling around in the settings (sorry I
don't remember the exact steps at the moment). You may soon find out,
though, that they're disabled be default for a good reason: namely,
drawing those icons is pretty slow.
