The default behaviour is Stop-on-copy so you only see branches back to
the branch root. However, it also stops you seeing history when you
move/copy a file/folder. Clear the stop-on-copy checkbox and click the
Get All button to see the entire history. Note that it then goes back to
rev 1, so if you have a lot of revisions this could take some time!

Future versions of SVN should provide support for 'Get only N log
messages', which will help. One day ...
